Happy New Year!

Hello everyone and Happy New Year!  So, in the spirit of accepting this new year, I decided I would do a little new year resolution post.  I know its pretty expected and people do it all the time, but I think it would be cool to do.  For me, I would like to see how many of these things I can do on the list.  So why not get to it!

1.  Motivation

Just to mention up front, the order is not important on these.  So this is not my most important one or anything.  But anyways first on the list is motivation.  I have trouble staying motivated at times.  Many of my friends and family know this already.  It could be from school to a personal project to just things I need to do around the house.  I will get lazy and sometimes not even finish what I started.  So in 2012, I would like to improve on this.  I have things that motivate me, but I believe it is time to be motivated for myself also.  So what kinds of things do I want to motivate myself to do this year? Well lets get on to the next resolution!

2.  Workout

So, I am not really out of shape so to speak.  I work out every now and then, and eat healthy most of the time.  But I will get off track sometimes and get lazy.  So as I said in #1, this is about motivation.  I want to be consistent and maintain a good schedule of working out regularly.  How do I plan to keep up on this?  Well, I hate to do this because I have had a tendency to go back on my word on this, but I plan to keep track of my workouts.  I have found a site that I like, www.bodybuilders.com, and may add a profile link with the rest of my profiles at the top of my page.  I will also update here on xSSKT.com of course, but I will be much more detailed on the other site.  So if you are interested in that, be looking forward to seeing some good progress come at the end of this month when I get back to Tech and can get on schedule.

3.  Blog

So another really important thing I want to do this new year is maintain this site.  I have always been off and on, but this year I want to be different.  I have lots of ideas for content already, and I really am planning some big things.  So in the spirit of #1, I need to motivate myself.  So I am going to go on record that I am going to make at least one post per day for the next year.  Yes, that is right, a post a day.  This has a big chance of making my content very boring, but I have plans to maintain the quality of these posts.  What kinds of plans?

4.  Vlog

I have really enjoyed when people did these.  The first I found, and also still my favorite, is Charles Trippy.  That link will lead to his channel on YouTube.  He has been making a video a day for a few years.  I am very impressed by this feat.  A video a day could be rather tough, but I am going to try to do this myself for the next year.  These videos will be more for me than anything else.  I really like the idea of it being like a journal thing for me.  I think looking back at the end or later in life would be quite interesting so that is my #1 for this post.  My first video will probably not come till the 2nd of January, as I can’t post a video about the 1st on the 1st too easily.  So Subscribe to my YouTube channel and here to keep updated on those.  Wish me luck on this one..  I will probably need some to keep it up.  But I believe it will be very good content for the blog also, to keep up my #3.

5.  Learn

So this is a very, very general resolution.  I want to learn this year.  What do I want to learn?  Well, I would like to learn a few things.  Obviously, we learn many things throughout our life.  This can even be day by day if your lucky.  So those things are understood.  This year though, going off my #1, I want to learn.  This will come with school this summer or fall, but I need to learn a few things on my own.  I need to make a resolution for each one to give it full attention so here we go..

6.  #5 Another Language

I took Spanish in High School, most people probably took some language at least.  Well I want to actually learn a language.  I did not have the #1 to learn a language in High School properly so this year I plan to do just that.  I am going to start with Spanish, since I have some background in that already, and maybe even spread to another if all goes well.  How do you learn a language on your own?  Well you could buy software, or take a class somewhere also, or you can visit www.livemocha.com.  This site is the best I have found for this so far, and I think it will work quite nicely.  I may even add a link to my profile at the top of my page here eventually if it all goes well.  This site has lessons and such to help you learn, but more importantly it tries to bring a community together to learn languages together.  If you know English and want to learn Spanish, there is a person that is out there trying to do the opposite.  So, why not help each other?  This site tries to match you with people that know the language your learning but want to learn the language you already are fluent in.  That was quite the mouthful but simply its people helping people.  Anyways, check that out if you’re interested.  It is quite nice actually I promise.

7.  #5 to Draw

I have also been on a similar site as #6 to learn this one already.  www.drawspace.com has a big list of lessons to get the basics and some tricks to improve your skills.  It also has another section to take actual classes, but I am not sure if I will do any of that.  This site will, however, allow me to work on some art myself.  Expect post here with my progress throughout the year on this subject.  Hopefully I will have some quality work coming out soon!  Just to shout out really quickly, I could really pull out an entire post solely on sites to help you learn.  They are out there and free to use mostly.  Google those if you are ever interested.

8.  #5 More Programming

So, I have programmed a little bit already.  I am not fluent or an expert, but I do have experience.  This year, though, I want to really work out some useful programming.  This will come from working on side projects mostly.  I have a few ideas already, but the one that will be seen here the most is a side project that could miss this year.  I want to make my own video game, which is not the craziest idea ever actually.  This could take quite some time on my own, so I am not promising it anytime soon, but what I can promise is some progress shown on xSSKT.com.  Be on the look out for some post about me working on this coming soon.

9.  Be a Good Person

These last two are not just filling space.  I really do work hard at this often, but I feel the need to add it here.  I want to be what I consider to be a good person.  I would love to just be likable in general, but this is more for me.  To go along with all the post before this, I really just want to strive to be the best I can be is all places in my life.  If it is just being a good friend, to helping my community, I just want to be a good person.  Rather short but very important to me for sure.

10.  Be a Good Christian

I don’t like people who push religion on others.  I also, however, do not like that people feel that they should not mention their religion to others either.  Everyone is entitled to whatever beliefs they want, and mine just happens to be Christianity.  I am not going to go in to detail to prevent any problems with other beliefs, but I would like to work towards being good to my religion.  To me, this really could go first.  I believe that I need this one to succeed in all my others, so it is important to me, but I will leave it at that.

I hope you enjoyed this list!  I am actually surprised I got it to 10.  I started out writing this with a few things in mind and I am actually quite proud of what it has become.  I hope I can keep up these resolutions and really succeed this next year.  There are big plans in this post, but lets all just enjoy today and tomorrow.  I hope maybe this post can help someone else truly make a resolution to be better this next year.  No matter what your 10 are, go out and do it.  Do not hold back.  Make the most of it.  Thanks for reading and of course..

Happy New Year!

Wow, nice list. I’ve never really do a resolution (sort of did it this year), but I’m considering it for next year. I like all of yours, but I particularly like #s 1, 9, and 10.

I’ve got an outline for my resolution post, but I don’t have any resolutions on it yet. :/

I actually am thinking about it.. I have a friend at my school that knows it and is trying to improve his english so it is very possible in the future. I will probably learn Chinese and Japanese with him. Try to find me on livemocha!

Yea 1 is a big one and 9 and 10 sound like just added things but I think they are ones a lot of people could strive for. 10 of course being whatever beliefs they have.

And you should do it. It has been too long since you have done a post. Would like to see one. Our project is important tho so I can’t really say ditch it for blogging, but you get my point.
